Wikipedia Entry on GOP VP Candidate Sarah Palin – Turns out she’s retarded.

Filed under: EOTW - End Of The World, politics — edpete @ 12:55 pm

I wanted to find out more about Sarah Palin the GOP VP running mate.  Where does one turn when they want the truth.  The Facts.  Warts and All.  Wikipedia.  Fount of Knowledge.

Without the Wikipedia I never would have known that McCain’s running mate is retarded.  I’m not sure, but I think this fact will probably get pulled from the site soon.  The republicans don’t want you to know these things.

She ran for Governor of Alaska promising an administration strong on Education.  She endorses teaching Creationism along side Evolution.  Yep.  That’s strong education.  Science!

Here are some highlights from Wikipedia:

She was the youngest person, and the first woman, to be elected governor of Alaska. She gained attention for publicizing ethical violations by state Republican Party leaders. Before becoming governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla, Alaska, City Council from 1992 to 1996, was elected mayor of Wasilla in 1996. She also ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor in 2002. Palin holds an undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Idaho.

Carter and Ed on top of Mt. Si

Filed under: Flickr, hiking — edpete @ 7:41 pm

Carter and I hiked to the Summit of Mt. Si today. It was a pretty great little hike. 4 miles – one way. 3,200 ft of elevation gain.  One thing we both noticed while walking up the trail – Hikers tend to be super nice.  Almost every one said Hi.

I did find a ziploc bag on the trail and Carter and I picked up the litter we saw (which wasn’t much).  Couple of band-aides, a cigarette butt (really?), a powerbar wrapper.  The mountain is cleaner than we found it.  Nice.

My feet hurt.  Carters feet hurt.  He just said to me; "Oh my Gosh.  My legs are so sore" as he hobbled into the kitchen.   Good Saturday.

The Long Tail – Flickr’s Post Comic-Con Stats

Filed under: Flickr, The Long Tail — edpete @ 7:11 pm

Check out The Long Tail on my Flickr views since posting my Comic Con Pictures.  The graph isn’t exactly the way The Long Tail should look, the bumps kinda kill it.  This happens every time I post pictures after a Con or some big event.  Kinda Interesting.  Or Not.

Mark Millar’s Kick Ass Is Going Big Screen! Sickening Violence: Just the way you like it!

Filed under: Comics, nerd!!! — edpete @ 2:32 pm

Mark Millar is a great comic writer.  Stupid Good.   He has done plenty of high profile Marvel and DC books (Ultimates, Ultimate Fantastic Four, Superman – Red Sun, Etc).  Millar has also done a ton of great creator owned stuff (Wanted, Saviour, Unfunnies).  He started Kick-Ass on Marvels Icon imprint a couple of months ago and it is pretty damn awesome.  It has been selling out every issue.  Stupid Good.
Looks like after Wanted made a couple dollars Hollywood has decided to pick the rights up to Kick-Ass after about 2 issues.  That’s the good news.  Nick Cage.  That’s the bad news.  They did has some of the old UltraViolence in Wanted…  Let’s hope they don’t PG-13 Kick-Ass.  Please.

Scientists at UC Berkeley have made a Cloak of Invisibility

Filed under: learning is fun, nerd!!!, science — edpete @ 11:47 pm

Nerds do cool stuff.

WASHINGTON — Scientists said they are a step closer to developing materials that could render people and objects invisible.

Researchers said they have demonstrated for the first time they were able to cloak three-dimensional objects using artificially engineered materials that redirect light around the objects; previously, they only had been able to cloak very thin two-dimensional objects.

The findings, by scientists at the University of California, Berkeley, are to be released later this week in the journals Nature and Science.

The new work moves scientists a step closer to hiding people and objects from visible light, which could have broad applications, including military ones.
