Embrace This! The inmates are ‘this close’ to running the asylum. Again.

idiot2

The two quotes below are from Sarah Palin about the current economic bailout package that congress is considering.  One is Tina Fey mocking Palin on SNL (yes, Sarah, Mocking is the word).  One is an actual quote from the Governor of Alaska.  Can you tell which is which?   It is a bit difficult because they both sound like they came from an idiot.

"That’s why I say I, like every American I’m speaking with, were ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping the–it’s got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. And trade, we’ve got to see trade as opportunity not as a competitive, scary thing. But one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today, we’ve got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that."

"Like every American I’m speaking with, we’re ill about this. We’re saying, ‘Hey, why bail out Fanny and Freddie and not me?’ But ultimately what the bailout does is, help those that are concerned about the healthcare reform that is needed to help shore up our economy to help…uh…it’s gotta be all about job creation, too. Also, too, shoring up our economy and putting Fannie and Freddy back on the right track and so healthcare reform and reducing taxes and reigning in spending…’cause Barack Obama, y’know…has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans, also, having a dollar value meal at restaurants. That’s gonna help. But one in five jobs being created today under the umbrella of job creation. That, you know…Also…"

I did a little photoshopping this morning.  That Bikini Palin picture floating around the interwebs was screaming for a change.

I can’t help it.  I am having a hard time with this woman.  I just am.

Yes, Red Stater, I am questioning her ability to lead and her intelligence.   She is running for Vice President of the United States…  I am allowed.  And yes.  I know that calling Sarah Palin an Idiot is an Ad Hominem attack.  Did you?  Ad Hominem attacks are a cornerstone of the American political debate.

Ed And Carter Kayaking – Puget Sound

Filed under: kayak — edpete @ 2:45 pm

Carter and I rented a tandem kayak today down on Alki Beach.   There were a bunch of sea lions swimming around a barge as we paddled by.  We were only out for about an hour, which is good.  I’m probably gonna be crying about my arms tomorrow as it is.  I would really like to get a kayak but I think the rental route will work for a while until I figure out if I actually want to blow two grand on one.  Living about 6 blocks from Alki / the Puget Sound, another reason Seattle is such a great city.

Chuck Palahniuk likes Comics

Filed under: Comics, nerd!!! — edpete @ 11:15 am

Chuck Palahniuk is a great writer.  I have read most of his fiction, and will probably get around to the rest soon.  Looks like he is friends with David Mack and has been in touch with DC about doing some sort of monster comic.  Neato.

“I would love to do the kind of ghost monster comics I grew up with,” said Palahniuk, “like those ‘Tales from the Crypt’ comics I just loved as a kid.”  – Chuck Palahniuk

Both alarming and charming – Polvo is coming to Seattle Friday.

Filed under: Music, youtube — edpete @ 11:24 pm

Polvo.  Indie Noise Rock.  Albums on Merge and Touch And Go.  From Chaple Hill.  These boys were Math Rock before there was Math Rock – Wikipedia say’s so.  Miles and Miles of indie cred.

I saw Polvo play in the early 90’s at some tiny WSU hole.  It was a pretty amazing show – Crazy Crazy Noise.  How do they make the guitars do that?

Anyway, they are on a reunion tour.  They are playing Neumo’s Friday.  I’m thinking if a bomb went off while they were playing all you would find is a buncha horn-rimmed glasses and ironic t-shirts.

Go Watch ‘em.

Anamanaguchi Live At PAX08 -

Filed under: Flickr, Music, The Long Tail, Video Games, nerd!!!, video, youtube — edpete @ 11:22 pm

I actually got mails from Peter Berkman (Anamanaguchi) as well as Paris Treantafeles (who did the cool visuals displays), from my previous post and flickr pics.  So I thought I would put up a few seconds of one of their songs.  The battery was dying on my crappy little flip video cam, but you get the point.

Enjoy.
